Bouquet making workshop

Alice, CID small business owner and florist of Alice’s Floral Designs (@alicesfloral), led a bouquet making workshop for some of the seniors in our community with winter themed colors and foliage. There was plenty of enthusiasm and participants got to take home their completed designs!

Rest in power, Frankie

We were saddened to hear of Frankie’s (Francisco Irigon’s) passing on September 12th.  Love and condolences to Felicita and family.  Frankie was a fierce advocate for the CID community and social justice everywhere and he served on the InterIm CDA board for many years.  Rest in power, Frankie.

Meet our JVC Member

We have a new Sustainability, Education, and Services Coordinator/JVC Member! Nicole has recently begun her year of service for InterIm and the Danny Woo Community Garden. She graduated from the University of Maryland where she studied biology and public health with a minor in sustainability. She is excited to engage with the community in the International District, manage garden maintenance, lead volunteers, and explore the PNW. Outside of service, she enjoys reading, running, thrifting, and spending time outside. Stop by the garden to say hi!

WILD Summer Program

For the last 3 weeks of WILD summer programming, we’ve focused on giving back to our community and the planet. We’ve partnered with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, a government agency that works to protect and improve air quality in areas of Washington. Through this partnership, we collected data, monitored air quality, and explored solutions to air pollution. Additionally, we volunteered at Danny Woo Garden in the CID community, gaining hands-on experience in garden maintenance and chicken care.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this summer full of field trips, community service, and exciting explorations with us!
