Uncle Bob’s Place is InterIm CDA’s newest affordable housing building, located in the heart of Chinatown-ID on the corner of 7th Ave. S. and S. King St. Construction on the residential portion is complete and residents began moving in in early 2023. Uncle Bob’s Place is named for beloved and legendary community leader, Bob Santos, who passed away in 2016, and was affectionately known as Uncle Bob to just about everyone. Our hope is that Uncle Bob’s Place will contribute to the CID’s ongoing sense of community, self-determination, stability, and vibrancy.
The 126 units are a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedrooms. To live at Uncle Bob’s Place, households must have an income at or below 50% of Area Median Income (AMI). The maximum allowed income depends on the number of people in the household. All information is here: Uncle Bobs Place Project. Contact for leasing info: UBP@uminc.net.
Public art by local artists and history-related exhibits in and on Uncle Bob’s Place will honor and educate about Uncle Bob’s life and legacy within the context of the history of the CID. It will pay homage to the overall history of API activism in the CID. Check back in May 2023 to learn about each artist and the art that will be a part of Uncle Bob’s Place and learn more about how you can be a part of this legacy by contributing to this capital campaign.
